Lisvane Art Workshop

Lisvane Festival Exhibition, 18 June 2016

On 18th June, we held the exhibition as part of the Lisvane Festival and the competition for the Sir Julian Hodge Festival Cup. Our judge this year was Jan Purnell, owner of Y Galeri in Caerphilly.

Jan chose the collage “Rhymney Ridge” by Patrizia Hodge as the winner with “Market Place, Picardy”, a watercolour by Alison Down second and ‘Lodore Landing, Derwent Water”, also a watercolour, by Ian Philpot, third. This is the second time that Patrizia has won the Cup, which was originally presented to the Festival by the financier, Sir Julian Hodge, who was Patrizia’s father-in-law. For more information on the Sir Julian Hodge Cup, please see here.

Jan also picked the following as highly commended: “Allium Flowers at Windsor Gardens” (stitched watercolour by Pam Gilbert), “Koi”(watercolour by Anne Edwards), “Hydrangea in Summer” (watercolour by Pauline Rawlings), “Rose Arch” (another watercolour by Alison Down), “The World” (enamelled copper by Jane Patten) and “‘Waverley’ Off Penarth Head” (acrylic by Trevor Jones). All of these paintings can be seen in our exhibition gallery or in the members’ galleries.

Thankfully, the rain held off for most of the day and the exhibition was well attended. A big thank you to Jan, our judge, to all the members who helped to stage the exhibition and to all our visitors for their continued support.
