Lisvane Art Workshop

Lisvane Festival Exhibition

22/23 June 2018

The exhibition for the Lisvane Festival was held this year on 22nd and 23rd June. We always set up on the Friday afternoon, with judging late afternoon. It was decided this year as an experiment to open the exhibition on the Friday evening so that visitors to the event in the main hall could visit the exhibition before, after or in the interval. We also opened at 10 am on Saturday.

We had an estimated 50 visitors on the Friday evening and about 60 on the Saturday - at least double our usual attendance. Admittedly, the weather was in our favour - it was a beautiful day!

Our judge this year was Kevin Strong, whose paintings can be seen all over Cardiff and further afield. He chose Ian Philpot’s watercolour entitled ‘It’s Worth It When You Get There!” (Actually a view from near the top of Snowdon) as the winner - the winning painting may be seen here. ‘Help The Aaa-ged’ by Dimitrios Venetsianos (above) was chosen as runner-up. A gallery of all the paintings hanging is here.

Many thanks to Kevin, our judge, to all the members who helped to stage the exhibition, and to all our visitors for their continued support.
