Lisvane Art Workshop

As usual, we held an exhibition as part of the Lisvane Festival on 1st and 2nd July. A disappointment was that we didn’t get the benefit of the Lisvane Players opening on the Friday evening, which was therefore rather quiet. Fortunately, Saturday, which was fête day, was busier, particularly in the afternoon. Six members had paintings hanging, plus six non-members. Attendance was good overall, though we only sold two prints.

One highlight of the exhibition was the entry of some ‘reverspective’ paintings by Tim Mathias. These are three-dimensional paintings, to be viewed by moving the head side-to-side, giving greatly enhanced depth to the painting.

The Sir Julian Hodge Festival Trophy, was judged by Dan Peterson of Peterson Art Supplies, who chose the pen & ink painting of ‘Llyn y Gadair, Cader Idris’ by Ian Philpot as the winner.

A gallery of the paintings hanging in the exhibition will be posted soon.
