Lisvane Art Workshop

Lisvane Festival Exhibition

14/15 June 2019

The final event of the year was the exhibition for the Lisvane Festival on June 14th / 15th. On the Friday evening, we took advantage of the drama evening taking place in the main hall and were very busy before, after and during the interval of that event. We were more fortunate too than most in that the inclement weather on the Saturday forced the fête from the field into the Memorial Hall and its car park, resulting in much greater visitor numbers than usual. We thank you all for your interest and support. We did sell two original paintings and two prints whereas we don’t usually sell at this exhibition.

The photographs don’t really do justice to the busy scene as I was too occupied at the busiest times to take any photos!

The Festival exhibition also included the competition for the Sir Julian Hodge Festival Trophy, first competed for in 1993. The winner this year was Sylvia Davies for her watercolour of ‘First Snow, Neath Canal’ (shown here)  - Sylvia also won the Ted Martin Memorial Trophy with this painting at our last Annual Exhibition in December. Second was Ian Philpot’s watercolour of ‘Fairy Glen’. Our judge this year was Gill Roberts, professional artist and illustrator.

There is a gallery here of the paintings in this exhibition.
